A Thank You Letter to My Parents

We are coming to the end of our very hectic first term in Grade 1 and I thought it the perfect opportunity to say thank you to all of the parents and families that support me on this incredible journey I am on.  Here goes:

Dear Parents,

As we come to the end of our first term, I would like to take this opportunity to say Thank You to each and every family. I have received such incredible support this year, more than I could have hoped for. Each September 20 little people enter into my classroom – some terrified, some excited, some indifferent – most feeling much the same way you are on that first day! I’ll let you in on a little secret…teachers feel the same! We are hopeful for a year of love, learning and teamwork. It is your trust and support that allows magic to happen each and everyday. I have had such an incredible year so far, and we’re already half way through. Every single day in our classroom I learn what it means to be kind, fair and just by simply existing amongst your children. They teach me that no matter the day or the situation, that kindness and love are the answers. If you could spend a day peeking into our window you would see a group of students who model Jesus, who are kind to one another, who speak to one another with respect. You would see a group of students who look past differences and abilities and see the value and worth of each person in our room. You would see a love for learning that you didn’t know existed. You would learn that even when someone is having a bad day, they too need kindness and patience…your kids, my kids, would teach you that. You would see friends giving hugs when there are tears. You would hear pleases and thank you’s and I’ll help you’s, all day long. If you spent the day peeking into our window you would hear laughter, see learning, and feel love. I wake up everyday feeling so blessed to spend the day with your kids – and everyday I am so grateful that I get to call them my kids.

Sincerely,

The Luckiest Teacher On Earth
